A pear by any other name would taste as sweet...

Ok, so I'm not sure if I'm even using the title phrase right but it sounded cute! 

Once you see what this post is about...hopefully you will understand it!

Yesterday we had a pear tasting party! with Chocolate!

Pears were on sale and I bought 4 different kinds:

Bosc, Bartlett, Red Bartlett and D'Anjou.

Now I am no pear expert (don't tell the kids, they think I'm pretty smart), so we just observed the shape, size, inside, color and taste. (Think "compare-contrast" with a 4, 2, and 1 year old.) 

 They all have seeds, stem and "a line in the middle".

 You can't smell them from here!

 UNO got bored waiting to eat and a math lesson was borne!

 DOS said her favorite pear was "chocolate"!

Whoops...did I say that out loud? 

YES... we did end up eating our pears with some Dark Chocolate!

Testing, testing, 123

OMG...this might work! Now I am not a computer techie person...Cookie Man has me spoiled! This is my first attempt to blog a post from my iPad!

I usually have quick moments in my day where I can post but going to the office to get on the computer away from my littles creates chaos!

At least now I can type throughout our day then add pictures later!

YEE-HAW!

Now if anyone out there can tell me how to "scroll" without the whole page moving that would be great. Now, I can't read from my dashboard. I have to open each link...kinda frustrating...

Homemade Playdough

I follow a blog that has lots of great learning ideas for kids! 

Last week she made some Homemade Halloween Playdough!

Today, I made some for my littles!  

SUPER, SUPER EASY!!

The first batch I just made orange.

The second batch was orange and I added Poppy Seeds! 

(FYI, less is more!)

Homemade Playdough
1 c. flour
1/2 cup salt
1 T. cooking oil
1 T. cream of tartar
1 c. water
Food coloring of your choice
Add-ins of your choice (i.e. spices, extracts, glitter, etc.)
Stir ingredients together well.  Just measure them into the saucepan you will be using to cook the dough, but mix them well before heating up the pan.  Over medium heat cook the dough, stirring constantly until it forms a ball.  (NOTE:  When it starts to pull away from the sides somewhat and clump together and most of the "wet-looking" parts look dry, it's ready to remove from the pan.)  Turn dough onto a board (or the countertop) and knead until very smooth.
